About Me

Hello, it’s so good to meet you! My name is Cindy Horton, and I’m looking forward to getting to know you better.

I believe that God has provided healthful edible plants that can grant us the greatest health if we will only use them. We may call these fruits, vegetables, grains, or herbs, but the purpose is the same: to provide all the nutrients that our bodies need to thrive.

When accidents or ill health (dis-ease) happen, we can turn to powerful herbal medicines, homeopathic remedies, and aromatherapy to help our bodies get back on the right track.

I’m currently attending Genesis School of Natural Health in pursuit of certification as a Holistic Health Practitioner and Master Herbalist. I should finish my studies around April 2018.

At Holistic Health Traditions, I share with you the holistic lifestyle that I am learning and living with my own family. Together, we can detox our homes and pantries and pursue a healthy journey of enjoying life and treating ourselves well.

Sign up for my email newsletter, and I’ll take you along as I go wildcrafting for medicinal herbs. Then you can hang out in my kitchen while I turn those herbs into effective medicines for my family.

My husband Jon and I have been married for 18 years, and we have four wonderful sons who range in age from 16 to 3. We’re a Christian, homeschooling family and spend most of our time together, enjoying the outdoors when the sun is shining and watching Murdoch Mysteries or Doctor Who when it’s cold or wet out.

If the idea of making your own medicines is new to you, it may seem strange. I’d like to quote herbalist James Green on this:

If you feel uncomfortable with the ideas of self-medicating, I respectfully suggest it is time to root out and possibly reconsider the beliefs that underlie these feelings. boundless numbers of us in this society are extremely intelligent human beings, fully capable of making excellent decisions about our lives, particularly when given access to valid information as a base on which to work.

And when ye see this, your heart shall rejoice, and your bones shall flourish like an herb: and the hand of the LORD shall be known toward his servants.
(Isaiah 66:14a)

My goal is to empower you to learn and then to trust your knowledge as you make decisions for your family. The Lord has placed you in a position of trust as you guide and shepherd your family. The God of all creation trusts you!

I’d love for you to subscribe to my email newsletter. I promise never to share your address and to only email a couple times a week!
